Linens, and Tables, and Chairs, Oh My!

Hey Hive!

Well, we are well into the wedding planning stages. We almost have everything booked!  All that is left to do really is pick out the invitations, find transportation for the guests, and pick out the table linens and chairs. I was super proud of our progress until I started to pick out the linens.

Good gosh. This is proving to be extremely difficult!

I used to work as a server at a Country Club back home, so I was quite familiar with one particular linen company, which is also the company that our venue recommended. So, I hopped online and started browsing their website. Wowee, there was so much to choose from! I thought that I knew exactly what I wanted and had the beautiful vision in my head of somewhat sparkly blush table linens, gold charger plates, and gold Chiavari chairs. When I put that vision into a spreadsheet and priced out what I thought it might cost based on the number of tables needed, I about fell out of my chair. Just for the linens, plates, and chairs, it was going to almost cost as much as the wedding itself! Ok, that might be a slight over-exaggeration, but that's what it felt like!

Here's the look I was going for. It is just absolutely beautiful and breathtaking.

So, I reworked things and tried to stick to the options that were within our budget (not more than $2.00 / napkin to rent). I nixed the Chiavari chairs (for now) and the charger plates (unless I can find cheaper), and looked only at doing the linens (napkins and tables). I decided that it might be best to have an ivory table linen (which the venue would provide free of charge) and have blush colored napkins that matched the dresses as best as possible. I ordered swatches of what I thought would match and they arrived just yesterday. I was super excited when they came and couldn't wait to see!

Unfortunately, the swatches that I chose looked a bit different in person than they did online and had much more of a pink tone than what I was hoping for. So, I emailed the company and sent them a picture of the dress, and asked for their opinion of what might match. I ordered swatches of those color choices and am waiting for them to arrive. Hopefully they come in, match, and aren't too much out of my price range!

So, Hive, I could absolutely use your help! First, do you know of any way that I can plan what my tables will look like from afar? Are there any designer programs out there that are free that will allow me to see what the linens will look like on the table, without having to order a sample and do a mock trial run? What are you doing to plan for the decor at your reception? Are you using linens and such, are you doing something else? Can't wait to hear all about it!

XoXo,
Missbrittz
